  20. Your mistaken.  Slirp Gives you SLIP, CSLIP, or PPP access though your Shell
  21. account.  I use TIA myself to get CSLIP access for my Amiga, and PPP access for
  22. Shapeshifter though my CHEAP Shell account.   He's using Slirp to GET the PPP
  23. access.  Sure he could Pay MORE and get a real PPP account, But there are More
  24. Pluses I think for having a Shell Account.

  26. Take Example myself.  I have a Shell accont that only Costs me $17.50 a month
  27. with UNLIMITED CONNECT TIME!  That means I could be connected 24 Hrs a Day 7
  28. days a Week for the whole month and it still only costs me $17.50 for that
  29. month.  Seconly I have 5 Megs of Hard Drive Space on THERE system which I could
  30. if I wanted setup a Web Page.  You don't get ANY Hard Drive space with a
  31. Slip/PPP account.   Slip/PPP acounts are MORE Per month, accually I think my ISP
  32. has a new option you can get a Slip/PPP account for like $24.50 a month with 8
  33. hours of access time per day. Pay for anything after that.  But thats still No
  34. HD space on there system.  Sure you could Pay LOTS more and keep your own system
  35. connected 24 Hrs a day 7 days a week and setup all that Web stuff on your own
  36. system, but for most peoples cases, that's not really a option.

  38. In most cases a Shell account would be the BEST option.  You can almost to
  39. EVERYTHING you can with a Real Slip/PPP account anyway.  There are a few Minor
  40. things you can't do, like PING, and RealAudio doesn't work.  Acually the latest
  41. TIA suppositly now works with RealAudio,  I don't know about Slirp.  But what do
  42. most people do on the Internet? The WWW, Newsgroups, E-Mail, IRC, FTP.  I can do
  43. ALL of that without any problems.  Also belive it or NOT, Using Slirp, Tia, Even
  44. MLINK is Faster then a Real Slip/PPP Connection Because Everything is being sent
  45. Directly to the ISP's systems First, Any Bad Packets Resends don't get sent to
  46. you though your Slow Modem Connection.  MLINK which is Amiga Only is even faster
  47. befcause it's using a ZMODEM protical to transfter the Data from your ISP to
  48. your Own Amiga, not a Packet Protical like Slip/PPP, you don't even use AmiTCP.

  51. Amiga Experts on the Internet.
